Jennifer Lagier- A Poem

S.A.D.

“Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is a type of depression that's related to changes in seasons — SAD begins and ends at about the same times every year. If you're like most people with SAD, your symptoms start in the fall and continue into the winter months, sapping your energy and making you feel moody. “--Mayo Clinic Diseases and Conditions

Every joint aches.
Gray days bleed into unending nights.
Food is required, but has zero flavor.

You shuffle through heavy gravity,
dread gatherings, obligations,
just want to sleep.

Storm clouds congeal,
scrub winter sun from bleak horizon.
Holidays intrude, add to unmanageable lists.

Bills burgeon.
Added pounds threaten.
Zoloft chased by dark chocolate helps.
